American International Health Alliance (AIHA)
Project or Department: Information and Communication Technology Department
The American International Health Alliance (AIHA) works to transfer U.S. health expertise to international colleagues. AIHA has created a proven partnership model to address local, national and regional healthcare issues, and has now supported over 80 partnerships with thousands of healthcare providers and educators in 21 nations. As a component of the partnership model, AIHA has worked with over 130 health care institutions to establish Internet resource centers designed to improve access to current medical information for health professionals and to promote the adoption of evidence-based healthcare practices. AIHA also has supported partnership initiatives in telemedicine, videoconferencing, distance learning, and the development of a Web portal providing native-language health resources for health professionals in Central and Eastern Europe and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union (www.eurasiahealth.org).
