Work is progressing on the Rwandan Telecommunications and Information Technology Sector Project, supported by USAID/Rwanda and implemented by Internews.
Managing Director Named for Rwandan Regulatory Agency Great progress has been made since the last consultancy ended in July 2002, which outlined the organization and job descriptions of the new regulatory agency. The Rwandan Government (GOR) has named a Managing Director, Mr. François Mutembere, who was formerly the Governor of the Rwandan National Bank. Seven individuals (including two women) have also been named to the Board of Directors. This action by the GOR means the administrative and operational development of the regulator can continue.
Agency Staff to Attend E-Government Conference Additionally, three Rwandans who have been active with the development of the regulatory agency, (Mr. Albert Nsengiyumva, Mr. Rutaboba and Eugene Nyagahene) will be attending the US State Department conference on e-government to be held November 19-22 in Washington DC.
