Winrock International
Winrock International is a nonprofit organization that works with people around the world to increase economic opportunity, sustain natural resources, and protect the environment. By linking local individuals and communities with new ideas and technology, Winrock is increasing long-term productivity, equity, and responsible resource management to benefit the poor and disadvantaged of the world. Winrock's approach to ICTs includes applications that enhance a broad range of cross-cutting rural development activities, such as providing renewable energy to enable off-grid ICT usage; applying ICTs to support market-driven agriculture; empowering women and girls through mentoring, education and anti-trafficking efforts; establishing multimedia and community development training centers; bringing volunteer technical assistance to developing countries; tracking environmental and socioeconomic impacts of land use; and digitally mapping rural landscapes for sustainable resource use.
