The University of Pennsylvania's International Literacy Institute (ILI) is carrying out a major effort to use ICT for basic education and literacy in concert with a variety of public and private partners (such as UNESCO, OECD, The World Bank, and JPMorganChase). The ILI is developing a series of CD-ROMs and interactive web-support modules, as well as new methods for using ICTs for working with poor and low-literacy/illiterate populations in a number of developing countries. The ILI also houses the U.S. National Technology Laboratory for Literacy and Adult Education.
