Full Description: The Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa includes 20 countries from Egypt to Namibia. Its working group on ICT policy is funded by EuropeAid and USAID and has existed since at least 1997, when the satellite communications expert Dr Dafalla was ap-pointed to lead it. This Forum was its first ministerial-level get-together; its principle participants were a five-person delegation from each country led by a minister and usually including the telecom regulator head. The High Level ICT Policy Forum was attended by delegates from Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, DR Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The representatives of EAC, UNECA, USAID/REDSO/ESA, IGAD, ITU, WTO, WDR, MTN, ADB, Dimension Data, FCC, IBM, CATIA also attended the forum.
USAID developed the Information and Technology Agreement Project (ITA). This project will assist the COMESA members to access on ITA. Benefit of ITA : growing economy, education, health
and give assurance of foreign investors.
