Full Description: This pilot activity seeks to impact the Guatemalan Ministry of Education's plans for use of ICTs in education. It expects to help the newly appointed Ministry design strategies to scale up and build on the work begun by Enlace Quiché under LearnLink and dot-EDU. USAID/G-CAP will be involved in the local effort to find ways to incorporate the results into USAID's CAM strategy. Another goal of the project is to position the newly legalized Enlace Quiché NGO as an important and trusted resource for the Ministry.
Update 1(As of June 2004):
The project director, Andy Lieberman, has undertaken significant steps toward informing the new ministry of past project and NGO successes regarding IT and education. With time, the new NGO is gaining greater currency with donors as well as local and national education officials.
Update 2 (July-Sept. 2004):
In this quarter, Enlace Quiche director Andy Lieberman was nominated for a Tech Museum award based on his work with Enlace Quiche. His work to successfully transform Enlace Quiche into a viable and influential NGO for technology, education, and cultural and linguistic preservation and support continues. AED and Mr. Lieberman signed a sub-contract extension to allow more activities to take place and more milestones to be achieved before the final case study is developed.
